MERCY MINISTRIES
Mercy Ministries is a branch of carmel: designed to provide practical help to those in need both within the church and in the community. Sometimes a crisis or extreme situations can cause people to be without food or clothing, furniture or white goods.
Mercy Ministries aims to overcome those needs wherever possible. On a weekly basis, Mercy Ministries operates a Soup Run, providing the homeless with soup, sandwiches, toiletries clothing and blankets. At Christmas, additional food parcels are given to those who might otherwise find this season barren.
Perhaps the most important aspect of this department is the time taken to listen to and spend with people, especially those who are homeless. The Mercy Ministries team are out on the streets, in the dark, in all weather, giving comfort and hope to those often rejected by society. They build relationships and trust, helping and encouraging people to begin to rebuild broken lives, often linking them to other organisations that can help them.
The overall aim of Mercy Ministries is to address the whole person rather than just providing the basics, so as not to leave them more destitute than they found them.
